The Flying Scotsman Set

After more than a decade off the tracks, this much-loved engine has been returned to its former glory after a £4.2m restoration project for York's National Railway Museum (NRM). Flying Scotsman was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, and built by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) for £7,944 at Doncaster Works back in 1923. As the first steam locomotive to achieve an official 100mph run back in 1934, this high speed steam locomotive is instantly recognisable and has become an icon of British railway engineering.

Having performed test runs throughout the UK, the Flying Scotsman made its inaugural passenger journey on Thursday 25th February 2016, travelling from London King's Cross to York where it took pride of place at the National Railway Museum for a series of events. The locomotive has been returned to its final British Railways livery of Brunswick Green and numbered as 60103 - the forthcoming model R3443 shows the restored engine in all its glory.
